Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Radiology Secretary/Transcriptionist to join our dynamic medical team in Ikeja, Lagos. In this role, you will be responsible for transcribing medical dictations from radiologists into accurate and professional reports, ensuring consistency and clarity in patient documentation. The ideal candidate should have a strong command of medical terminology—especially in radiology—and be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced, high-accuracy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe audio recordings from radiologists into clear, accurate, and well-structured written reports.
  • Ensure the completeness and precision of medical terms, patient information, and procedure descriptions.
  • Format and prepare radiology reports for inclusion in patient records and clinical use.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to verify unclear or ambiguous dictations.
  • Meet strict turnaround times while maintaining high quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to medical documentation regulations and privacy standards.

Skills and Requirements

  • Experience: 2–4 years in medical transcription, preferably within a radiology or diagnostic imaging setting.
  • Typing Proficiency: Minimum typing speed of 60 WPM with strong accuracy.
  • Listening Skills: Excellent comprehension for transcribing voice dictations clearly and precisely.
  • Medical Terminology: Strong knowledge of general and radiology-specific terms and abbreviations.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in transcription tools, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attention to Detail: Consistent accuracy and careful review of documents.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and teamwork.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Health Information Management, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Certificate or diploma in Medical Transcription or Health Information Technology is an added advantage.
  • Registered or Certified Medical Transcriptionist (RMT or CMT) credential is desirable but not mandatory.

Additional Considerations

  • Familiarity with radiology equipment and procedures is beneficial.
  • Experience using voice recognition software (e.g., Dragon Medical, M*Modal) is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and edit reports with minimal supervision.
