Role Summary:
As a Product Designer, you will be responsible for creating and developing innovative designs for specialized components used in oil and gas drilling operations. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and production teams to translate design concepts into functional and manufacturable products that meet industry standards and customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, user needs, and design objectives.
- Conduct research and analysis to gather market insights, identify trends, and assess competitor products.
- Generate design concepts, sketches, and prototypes to explore ideas and visualize solutions.
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of product designs.
- Develop design specifications, technical drawings, and documentation to communicate design intent and requirements.
- Evaluate design concepts for feasibility, functionality, and manufacturability, considering factors such as materials, processes, and costs.
- Work closely with engineers to optimize designs for performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct design reviews and iterations based on feedback from stakeholders, customers, and manufacturing teams.
- Coordinate prototype development and testing activities to validate design concepts and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to product design and development.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards throughout the design process.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a product designer, preferably in the oil and gas industry or a related field.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
- Strong conceptual and creative skills, with the ability to generate innovative design solutions.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to product design and development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with design tools and methodologies, such as rapid prototyping, design thinking, and user-centered design.
- Understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to product design and development.
- Portfolio showcasing previous design projects, including sketches, concept drawings, and 3D models.
