Role Summary:
As an Operating Room Nurse at our client’s healthcare facility, you will play a crucial role in providing safe and effective nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for patients and maintain a sterile and efficient operating room environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are sterile, functional, and readily available.
- Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures by passing instruments, handling specimens, and providing other support as needed.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and physiological responses during surgery, alerting the surgical team to any changes or complications.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Administer medications and intravenous fluids as ordered by the surgeon or anesthesia provider, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Provide post-operative care and monitoring to patients recovering from surgery, assessing their condition and managing pain and other symptoms.
- Document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and surgical outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Valid nursing license to practice in Nigeria.
- Proven experience working as an Operating Room Nurse, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
