Role Summary:
As a Legal Advisor at our client’s firm, you will be responsible for providing legal advice, guidance, and representation to clients on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate law, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. You will play a key role in helping clients navigate legal issues, mitigate risks, and achieve their business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, contracts, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, employment law, and dispute resolution.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and contracts, including agreements, contracts, leases, licenses, and other legal instruments, and ensure that they comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues, statutes, regulations, and case law, and provide insights and recommendations to clients on potential legal risks and opportunities.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings, and advocate on their behalf in courtrooms, administrative hearings, and regulatory proceedings.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, and provide responsive and proactive legal advice and support to address their legal needs and objectives.
- Stay abreast of changes in laws, regulations, and legal developments affecting clients’ industries, and provide timely updates and guidance to clients on legal issues and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external counsel, and other stakeholders to address legal issues, resolve disputes, and achieve clients’ business objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university; Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) or professional qualification (e.g., BL) is a plus.
- Qualified to practice law in Nigeria with a valid license to practice law (SAN or other relevant certifications preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing lawyer, with a strong background in corporate law, commercial transactions, and litigation, preferably in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
- Solid understanding of Nigerian laws, regulations, and legal procedures, with expertise in one or more areas of law such as corporate law, commercial law, intellectual property law, or employment law.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues, statutes, and case law, and provide clear and concise advice and recommendations to clients.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders, and effectively advocate on behalf of clients in legal proceedings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
