The state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Intensive Care Specialist or Anesthesiologist to join their dedicated team.
Job Overview
Our client is actively looking for an experienced and compassionate Intensive Care Specialist or Anesthesiologist to oversee the care of critically ill patients in their ICU. We welcome applications from both dedicated intensivists and anesthesiologists with significant critical care experience. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest standard of critical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the care of critically ill patients in the ICU
- Perform advanced medical procedures specific to critical care
- Lead and supervise the ICU medical team, including residents and nursing staff
- Collaborate with other specialists to develop and implement treatment plans
- Communicate effectively with patients’ families regarding treatment and prognosis
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and international best practices in critical care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research activities
- Contribute to the education and training of junior doctors and medical students
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
- Participate in on-call rotations as required
- For anesthesiologists: Provide anesthesia services as needed, in addition to ICU responsibilities
Qualifications:
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
- Postgraduate qualification in Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesiology, or a closely related specialty
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
- Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or the West African College of Physicians/Surgeons in Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology, or a related specialty
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in intensive care medicine or anesthesiology with significant ICU exposure
- Proven track record of clinical excellence in managing complex critical care cases
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Experience with latest critical care technologies and equipment
- Research experience or publications in the field of critical care medicine or anesthesiology
- Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies in healthcare settings
