Role Summary:
As an Environmental Scientist, you will be responsible for assessing and managing environmental risks associated with oil and gas exploration and production activities. You will work closely with safety engineers, drilling engineers, and operations managers to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and mitigate environmental impacts.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct environmental assessments and impact studies to identify potential risks and impacts associated with oil and gas exploration and production activities.
- Monitor and evaluate air, water, and soil quality to assess environmental conditions and identify potential contamination sources.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and strategies to minimize environmental impacts and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to assess environmental compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop and implement pollution prevention and control measures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams on environmental issues, including waste management, spill response, and habitat protection.
- Participate in regulatory permitting processes and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
- Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies in environmental management and sustainability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in environmental management or a similar role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements related to oil and gas exploration and production activities.
- Proficiency in environmental monitoring and assessment techniques, including sampling and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental management systems, such as ISO 14001.
