Our client is an environmental consulting firm based in Lagos, Nigeria, specializing in providing environmental assessment, planning, and management services to government agencies, private companies, and non-profit organizations. Role Summary:
As an Environmental Consultant at our client’s company, you will be responsible for conducting environmental assessments, studies, and audits, and providing expert advice and recommendations to clients on environmental issues and compliance requirements. You will play a key role in helping clients identify and mitigate environmental risks, and develop sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct environmental assessments, studies, and audits to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of development projects, industrial activities, and infrastructure projects, and assess compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
- Prepare environmental impact assessments (EIAs), environmental management plans (EMPs), and environmental monitoring plans (EMPs) for clients, and ensure that projects are planned, designed, and implemented in accordance with environmental regulations and best practices.
- Conduct fieldwork, site investigations, and data collection activities to gather information and data on environmental conditions, and analyze and interpret data to assess environmental risks and identify mitigation measures.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to clients on environmental issues, regulatory requirements, and best practices for environmental management and sustainability, and assist clients in developing and implementing environmental management systems (EMS) and sustainability initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to coordinate environmental compliance activities, address environmental concerns, and resolve environmental issues, and represent clients in meetings, hearings, and negotiations with regulatory agencies.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulations, and technologies in environmental science, environmental management, and sustainability, and provide insights and recommendations to clients on potential impacts and opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CEnvP) is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on environmental assessments, compliance, and management, preferably in Nigeria.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, standards, and guidelines, including EIA regulations, waste management regulations, air quality standards, and water quality standards.
- Proficiency in environmental assessment tools and methodologies, GIS software, and environmental modeling software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends and patterns, and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
