Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laparoscopic Urologist to join our medical team in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria. The ideal candidate should be board-certified with advanced surgical skills, particularly in laparoscopic techniques. Expertise in procedures such as TURP, HoLEP, PCNL, Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy, RIRS, Kidney Transplant, and Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy is essential. This is a full-time role with on-call responsibilities to address urological emergencies.
The successful candidate will be joining a multidisciplinary team and will play an integral role in the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality care to patients with urological conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Surgical Expertise: Perform advanced urological surgeries including TURP, HoLEP, PCNL, Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy, RIRS, Kidney Transplant, and Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy.
- Minimally Invasive Procedures: Utilize laparoscopic techniques for minimally invasive surgeries, offering patients benefits such as smaller scars, faster recovery, and reduced pain.
- Comprehensive Patient Care: Ensure high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgeries. Manage complex urological conditions and provide ongoing medical management.
- Emergency On-Call: Participate in on-call duties for emergency urological cases, providing timely and effective surgical interventions.
- Mentorship & Education: Provide mentorship to junior medical staff, residents, and fellows, fostering the development of a strong, skilled urology team.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including oncologists, nephrologists, and nursing staff, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Continual Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in urological treatments, technologies, and surgical techniques to improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Board Certification: Equivalent to FRCS, FWACS with a minimum of 5 years post-MBBS training in surgery/Urology.
- Specialization: Eligible for registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria as a specialist urologist with additional qualifications in laparoscopic urology.
- Surgical Expertise: Proficiency in TURP, HoLEP, PCNL, Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy, RIRS, Kidney Transplant, and Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy.
- Experience: Candidates with demonstrated laparoscopic surgical experience are preferred. The number of procedures performed is more important than the number of years of experience.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with laparoscopic surgical equipment and systems from companies such as Storz and Olympus is an advantage.
- Language: Fluency in English is required.
- Preferred Background: Candidates from regions such as India, Egypt, Cuba, Lebanon, and Turkey are encouraged to apply.
Work Schedule
- Routine work hours: 6 to 8 hours, Monday to Saturday.
- On-call responsibilities: 2-3 times per month, as needed for emergencies.
